| Pharmacology
The pharmacology of aloe is surprisingly diverse - laxative, immune potentiation, anti-microbial and wound healing activities help explain it's wide ranging folk and clinical applications. Gastrointestinal effects include laxative effects, bowl detoxification, inhibition of gastric acid secretion.
Immune Enhancing /Antimicrobial Aloe has demonstrated activity against many common bacteria and fungi in several studies. Anti-viral effects have been shown to be significant. Immune enhancements include macrophage release of interleukin-1-alpha, cytokines, tumor necrosis factor, nitric oxide release, as well as phagocytosis and non-specific cytotoxcicity. It has been further shown to enhance T-cell function and interferon production. These effects can be quite substantial. Hematopoetic effects are mentioned which is the support of stem cells and other bone marrow cells. The greatest increase in activity was with studies where cells were suppressed by radiation.
Anti-Inflammatory Activity Aloe Vera has been shown to exert a number of anti-inflammatory actions including the blocking of general inflammatory mediators, thereby reducing inflammation and edema. Other effects include wound healing and alcohol detoxification. A wide range of doses varying from several hundred milligrams (300) up to 1,600 milligrams daily have been investigated in humans.
Active Ingredients Complex carbohydrates comprise many of the bio-active ingredients responsible for the beneficial attributes of fresh gel of Aloe vera. The culmination of over 26 years and $75 million in clinical research led the scientists at Carrington Laboratories to discover and perfect a way to isolate and preserve these complex carbohydrates in a powder form: ManapolŪ. The benefits of ManapolŪ Powder: Location: Caraloe's farm and production facility are strategically located in Costa Rica. Organically Grown: Aloe vera is organically grown and harvested daily from rich, volcanic soil. Sanitary: A sanitary environment is maintained during production and manufacturing of pharmaceutical and nutraceutical products. Patented Process: Caraloe's patented process preserves the complex carbohydrates with lot - to - lot consistency.
